Tech Careers in the Agri-Food

An Industry-Backed Training Initiative

Ontario’s agri-food industry is rapidly evolving, driven by innovation, automation, and digital technology. To meet this shift head-on, we’re proud to support a collaborative initiative that prepares jobseekers for emerging careers at the intersection of technology and agriculture.

The Building Tech Careers in the Agri-Food Sector program is a fast-tracked, hands-on employment training opportunity developed in partnership with South Essex Community Council (SECC) and Employment + Education Centre (EEC).

Funded by Upskill Canada, powered by Palette Skills, and the Government of Canada.

Why This Program Matters

  • Future-Focused Careers: Participants train for in-demand roles like Service Automation Technician, Food Equipment Service Technician, and Greenhouse Technician.
  • Employer-Led Design: With direct input from agri-food employers, the curriculum responds to real-world labour market needs.
  • Inclusive Access: No prior experience in tech or agriculture is required—just a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Sector-Shaping Impact: Designed as a model for excellence, this program establishes best practices to inform and inspire future initiatives across the agri-food sector.
