Ontario's Largest Workforce Development Conference Wraps Up in Collingwood

Collingwood, ON – Ontario’s largest Workforce Development Conference ended October on an incredible note.

Sparking excitement and momentum for the future of Ontario's workforce, our three-day event brought together employment service providers, government representatives, industry experts, and practitioners to push the boundaries of what's possible in tackling Ontario's labour market challenges.

Opening Ceremony and Key Themes

The conference opened with a powerful performance by viral storyteller Notorious Cree, setting the stage for collective action and the multifaceted journey of reconciliation. Key sessions tackled critical topics like skills training, youth employment, and diversity in hiring – all with a focus on innovative cross-sector collaboration to adapt to technological changes and workforce shifts. By ensuring the entire ecosystem moves towards bold solutions, the event sought to energize Ontario's evolving labour market.

Workshops, Panel Discussions, and Ministry-led Sessions

Workshops and panel discussions were designed to inspire and inform, exploring topics ranging from AI and digital literacy in the workplace to providing vital mental health support for young job seekers.

Ministry sessions reaffirmed Ontario’s commitment to jobseekers, featuring workshops that addressed real pain points like administrative burden in service delivery. The discussions were practical, eye-opening, and laid the groundwork for significant changes.

Tiered Sessions for Sector Stakeholders

In the face of rapid technological shifts and changing workforce demographics, cross-sector collaboration was highlighted as the key to unlocking potential. Sessions were designed for all levels – leadership, middle management, and frontline staff – creating a "build-your-own-adventure" suite of experiences that allowed attendees to choose their own unique conference journey. This approach ensured that everyone walked away with actionable insights and strategies.
